Colin Kaepernick said that he will not stand for the playing of the national anthem to a country that oppresses black people and people of color.
Kaepernick has done this all throughout the preseason and now will continue to do it throughout the regular season.
49ers coach Chip Kelly has told the press that Kaepernick not standing for the national anthem is "his right as a citizen" and he will not tell Kaepernick to do otherwise.
On August 29th, New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees said on ESPN, "It's an oxymoron that you're sitting down, disrespecting that flag that has given you the freedom to speak out." He's basically saying that your doing something that is your right, but at the same time, it's disrespecting our country.
